FIND A STORE
[SAINSBURY'S SMARTSHOP]
USABILITY TESTING THE EXISTING DESIGN
We received a lot of negative feedback and saw clear customer pain points during user testing when we asked users to ‘Find a store near their home’ using the existing design.
PROBLEMS WITH THE EXISTING DESIGN
Shops were listed A-Z and there was no other functionality. I believe the initial design was basic as there were not many SmartShop stores. Now there are hundreds, the design does not work. Scrolling is long, information is limited, stores are not relevant to the customer and the design did not follow our Luna design system.

RESEARCH
I took the feedback from customer testing to understand the full list of customer requirements. I carried out competitor analysis to see how 'Find a store' worked on other sites.
IDEATION
Taking all the findings, I sketched out initial ideas for the flow and content in low fidelity wireframes based on the customers feedback in testing.
PLANNING
I talked through the sketched ideas with the Product Owner and Engineers to see what was possible now (with minimal build work) and what would need to be done in future phases following further investigation from engineering.
DESIGN
After discussion, I created the best-case scenario design and then worked backwards to reduce the design down to what was possible in phase 1 build. At this point, I presented the testing feedback and designs with the wider SmartShop team.
